How to Send Your First SMS

Before you can run you must learn to walk! So to help you get started with TxtSync we have put together a simple guide that will get you up to speed with sending out your first text message.

When you first signup to TxtSync we place some free credit on to your account and provide you with free access to our shared numbers. The great news is you already have everything you need to send out your first message!

Let’s get down to business – before you can send out an SMS you need contact details, specifically a mobile phone number! That means the first thing to do is to create a contact within TxtSync

Creating your first SMS contact

To create your contact you must first log in to TxtSync. Once done follow the steps below

  • From the top navigation window, select Contacts > All Contacts
  • Now click Add Contact.
  • You will now need to fill out the required contact details. At a minimum TxtSync requires a First Name, Last Name, and a Phone Number. The phone number must also be capable of receiving text messages.

Sending your first SMS

  • Once your contact is created click on View to open up your contact record.
  • You will now be looking at the contact summary screen. The conversation tab will show you the sent and received text messages from the contact. At this point, there should be nothing displayed but we are about to change that.
  • Below the conversation box, you will see the message composer. It is here that you can create your message, add emojis, weblinks, and images. Type in Hello World and select which number you would like to send from.

Message Composer Key

  1. Emoji Picker – Here you will be able to add personality to your messages by including your favourite emojis to suit the mood. 😍
  2. File Picker – Allows you to upload files, such as images or PDFs and attach them to the text message.
  3. Web Link Picker – Allows you to add web links to your messaging.
  4. Template Picker – Allows you to save a message as a template or insert an already created template.
  5. Data Meger – Allows you to merge contact field data into the message.
  6. Number Selector – This is where you can select the number you wish to send the text message from.
  7. Composer – Where you can type the message to send.
  8. Usage – Informs you how many text message parts your message is made up of.
  9. Send – Sends the text message to the contact.
  10. Preview – Shows you what the message will look like when received.
  • Now all that is left to do is click the send button that your text message will be delivered shortly after.

Receiving your first SMS

Receiving text messages is very simple. All you need to do is text back into the original number that you set from. TxtSync will automatically log the received text message against the relevant contact. Also, a screen pop notification will trigger to inform you that you have received a message.

Please bear in mind

Shared numbers are great for allowing you to test TxtSync however they do have limitations. With shared numbers, a received message is routed to the TxtSync account which last sent a message to the number. Also, the shared number doesn’t represent your business or brand. With that in mind, you should always look to purchase your own dedicated number once you are satisfied that TxtSync is working for you.

What Next?

If you are happy with the TxtSync service and features your next set is to submit your account for approval from the TxtSync web application. A member of the TxtSync team will verify your account and check that you intend to use the text messaging service for legitimate purposes.

If we are happy with your use case your account will be approved. At this point, all that’s left for you to do is to add a payment method to your account and purchase some text credits and your very own dedicated number or Sender ID.
